Basilica Del Santo Nino in Cebu, Philippines


The history of this famous cathedral dates back to 1565.
The image of Santo Nino is Considered to be the oldest religious relic in the Philippines.

It was a gift from Magellan on April 21, 1521.

There is the SINULOG festival, held on the third Sunday of January in Cebu City, Philippines to honor the child Jesus, (Santo Nino = Holy Child), as the (former) patron of the city of Cebu.

Since 2002, Jesus' mother Mary is declared to be the principal patroness of Cebu. According to the Vatican, the Holy Child is a representation of Jesus, the Second Person of the Trinity, he cannot as God be considered a patron.
